It’s become an addiction that both kids and adults can’t kick. And it’s about to spread to an even bigger group of people.
Whether you’re a business executive with a smartphone — or a third grader with access to mom and dad’s iPad — there’s a good chance you’ve played Angry Birds.
And now — the addicting app that has millions flinging birds for fun will be available on Facebook.
The developer behind Angry Birds says it will launch the game on Facebook this Valentine’s Day — Tuesday, February 14th.
For those of you not familiar with angry birds — it goes something like this. You launch birds at a structure to knock it down and crush the enemy green pigs. Many people can’t stop playing and they’re even willing to pay real money to buy virtual goods.
In this game, different birds have special features — and reports say the developers are going to capitalize on this with the Facebook launch — by offering suped-up birds for 99-cents, although the actual game will be free to Facebook users.
Whether or not users buy these more powerful birds — the game will be available to a huge new audience.
Facebook has 800-million users around the world.
And other popular virtual games like Farmville and Bejeweled are played by millions.
Plus, iPhone apps that have Facebook connectivity features — like “Words with Friends” — let users bring their mobile gaming results online.
Taking all of that into account, it looks like Angry Birds is set to crash the party.
